Shawn Denlein, former Hankook Tire America Corp. senior vice president of sales, is joining Monro Muffler Brake Inc. as the company’s senior vice president of tire merchandising.
Denlein succeeds Joe Tomarchio, who will work with Monro on acquisitions, and will report to Monro President and CEO John Van Heel, Monro said.
“His extensive experience and knowledge of our industry will benefit Monro significantly,” Van Heel said. “In particular, his experience in developing successful programs and proprietary brands for tire manufacturers that address retail, commercial and wholesale channels will complement our deep internal expertise in retail purchasing and distribution.”
Heel adds that Denlein’s leadership and working style will fit right in with Monro as the company continues to grow.
Denlein announced his resignation from Hankook last week, initially set to take effect March 3. Denlein helped lead Hankook’s sales organization and continued growth for the past four years, the tiremaker said in a statement. Before joining Hankook, Denlein held several sales positions at Yokohama Tire Corp.
“I am excited to join the Monro organization, which has established a very successful growth strategy with proven results. I am looking forward to applying the knowledge gained over my career in the tire industry to help drive the continued growth and profitability of Monro,” Denlein said.
Based in Rochester, N.Y., Monro operates 1,100 company stores in 26 states and is the franchisor of 127 Car-X stores in nine states. Hankook Tire America Corp. recently relocated its headquarters from Wayne, N.J., to Nashville, Tenn.
