Hankook Tire Co. and shoe maker Vibram’s collaboration of three shoes and two concept tires debuted during the International Motor Show in Frankfurt, Germany.
Hankook Tire’s off-road concept tires, the DynaMIX and DynaSYNC, took inspiration from the flexible blocks on the outer soles of Vibram’s hiking shoes that are designed to change their contact positions in response to variations in ground surface.
Hankook said the blocks are designed to protect the tires from road impacts, while improving time, traction, block stability and flexibility. The DynaMIX also includes Vibram’s Ultra-light 3D Cocoon Technology
With the collaboration Vibram is integrating tire technologies into its footwear with three concept shoes, the DynaTREK, DynaSTRYKE BKL and Omnifuse. The shoes are the successors to Vibram FiveFingers lineup.
