The Federation of Chemical Workers of Hungary (VDSZ), which represents some employees at the Hankook tire plant in Hungary, held a demonstration outside the facility earlier this week to protest what it terms “harassment” of union leadership by the company.
The VDSZ action against Hankook Tire Hungary Ltd.’s plant in in the city of Rácalmás, lasted just a few hours and involved around 300 people, according to news reports.
Reports say that the VDSZ claims that over the past year Hankook fired two employees who happened to be union officials, and that another four quit their jobs at the plant.
In a statement issued by the plant, Hankook said that it “has never terminated the employment of any trade union member or official because they were a union member.”
