The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. has named three finalists for the 33rd Goodyear Highway Hero Award and will announce the winner on March 31, during the Mid-America Trucking Show (MATS) in Louisville, Ky.
The Goodyear Highway Hero Award has been honoring professional truck drivers since 1983 and recognizes truck drivers for acts of bravery that help others.
Finalists include Mark Cavanagh, a driver from Hillsville, Va., who rescued a truck driver who was ejected from his rig; Dorian Cole, a driver from Los Angeles, Calif., who used his truck to protect an injured police officer from oncoming traffic; and Julian Kaczor, a driver from Utica, N.Y., who pulled an injured driver from a flame-engulfed car.
The Goodyear Highway Hero Award winner will receive a special ring, cash award and congratulatory trophy. The other finalists will also receive a cash prize, as well as other items, Goodyear said.
