Goodyear Funding Six Soap Box Scholarships

Goodyear will donate $30,000 for six Goodyear Champion Scholarships for 2012 All-American Soap Box Derby division winners.

Goodyear has stepped in with a $30,000 donation that will fund six college scholarships for 2012 All-American Soap Box Derby division winners.

Each of the six will receive a $5,000 scholarship, with the award known as Goodyear Champion Scholarships.

The 2012 All-American Soap Box Derby championships will be run June 21 in Akron at the fabled Derby Downs.

“Goodyear and the All-American Soap Box Derby are both integral parts of the Akron community, and our company is proud to recognize the accomplishments of the youngsters competing here from all over the world,” said Faith Stewart, Goodyear’s director of community affairs.

Last month, Soap Box Derby officials announced that FirstEnergy Corp. had come on board as its new title sponsor.

RNR Tire Express honors the legacy of franchisee Richard Rose

Rose was posthumously awarded with the franchise’s second-ever Lifetime Achievement Award.

RNR Tire Express (RNR) recently closed out its annual franchise conference, where it honored the legacy of Richard Rose, who it considered one of its “trailblazing franchisees.” Rose was posthumously awarded with the franchise’s second-ever Lifetime Achievement Award.

Members of the Rose family were in attendance at the conference to accept the Lifetime Achievement Award on Richard’s behalf. Rose's two sons will continue to operate their father’s franchise locations in Virginia and ensure his legacy continues within the RNR system and throughout the communities he services, RNR Tire Express said.
