Goodyear said it should net approximately $1.4 billion on the deal, net of transaction costs, taxes and other payments related to employee buyouts and retirement benefits, and expects to record an after-tax gain on the sale in the third quarter of 2007.
The tiremaker said it will use the proceeds to reduce debt, deal with legacy costs, and invest in its global tire operations.
