The safety program at Fountain Tire began a year ago, and within nine months, the entire safety program was developed and introduced to all 135 Fountain Tire locations across Western Canada.
Eighty locations in Alberta were granted COR (Certificate of Recognition) by December 2007. COR certificates are awarded by Alberta Human Resources and Employment (AHRE) as part of the Partners in Injury Reduction (PIR) program which awards rate discounts to employers who have successfully implemented health, safety and disability management programs and who have achieved the standards set by AHRE.
Dieter Brunsch, VP of customer services & risk management for WCB, visited Fountain Tire’s Head Office in Edmonton to present a rebate cheque in excess of $200,000 and to recognize Fountain Tire for its achievement in safety excellence.
Brunsch commented on the significance of this accomplishment: “This is a significant achievement for Fountain Tire, as rarely never before has a company with so many locations been awarded COR in its first year of application,” said Dieter Brunsch of the WCB. (Tire Review/Akron)
