The 2,587,967 square-foot building on 305 acres was sold to Big Industrial, LLC, for an undisclosed amount
According to Binswanger, the plant was no longer globally competitive, and BFNAT to closed it and ceased production at the end of 2006. BFNAT is in the process of removing its remaining inventory and surplus equipment.
Earlier this year, the company donated 60 acres of land near the plant, 40 acres of which are a certified wildlife habitat, to the Western Heights School District. The school district expects to construct an elementary school on 20 acres of the donated land.
Big Industrial plans to renovate and subdivide the building for multi-tenant use, the company said. (Tire Review/Akron)
