Tina Neely is a tire repair specialist at the Allied Oil and Tire Co.’s retread facility in Omaha, Neb.
“Fully treaded this retread weighs more than me. This one will be about 150 pounds when it’s done,” Tina Neely told WOWT-TV, a local TV station covering Omaha.
Neely is five feet tall and 115 pounds, but that doesn’t hinder her from doing her job.
“I was always a tomboy. I was always helping my dad with cars and with tools,” continued Neely.
Neely told WOWT that she knows it’s not a job most people would picture a girl doing, but that doesn’t bother her in the least. She also noted that her job as a repair specialist is a job inside the factory where female workers excel.
“Women are just naturally more attuned to details. And in repair there are a lot of details,” said Neely.
Neely is one of 10 female employees at Allied Oil & Tire. She was quick to point out to WOWT that not everything is about girl power and that teamwork is what makes the company strong.
