Executive Promotions Announced at Falken

(Akron/Tire Review) The new year has brought new job assignments for some key Falken Tire Corp. executives.

Hideo Honda, who had been Falken’s president and COO, was promoted to CEO of the company.

Richard Smallwood, previously vice president of sales and marketing, took over Honda’s position as president and COO.

Darren Thomas, who was executive director of marketing, was moved up to vice president of sales and marketing replacing Smallwood in that role.

In addition, Rick McConnell, formerly senior account manager for Falken’s western region, was promoted to western region sales manager, and Matt Leeper, previously an account manager in Falken’s eastern region, was promoted to eastern region sales manager.

Mickey Thompson has introduced the Baja Boss XS, which it calls an evolution of its Baja Boss M/T tire. Mickey Thompson said the tire features an asymmetric pattern, SideBiters and a silica-reinforced compound. Engineered with a high void, the company said the purpose-built asymmetric tread pattern is mated to large four-pitch SideBiters that create a biting surface capable of tackling extreme rocky terrain.
