Entire TIA Board Makes TirePAC Donation

All members of the Tire Industry Association’s board have made a contribution to TIA’s political action committee, TirePAC, as part of a recent fundraising effort – marking the first time in TIA’s history in which this has occurred.

TirePAC was created shortly after the tire recalls of 2000 to assist those in Congress who assist the tire industry, according to TIA. It has been a crucial factor in helping ensure that legislation beneficial to the tire industry is enacted, including the recent passage of H.R. 4, which removed the Form 1099 reporting provision.

“I want to thank the members of TIA’s board for setting the pace when it comes to raising funds for TirePAC. As TirePAC funds cannot come from TIA’s operating budget, it is important that we continue efforts to ensure that it has the adequate funds to continue the important work of protecting the tire industry in the halls of power,” said TIA Executive Vice President Roy Littlefield.

TIA encourages all tire industry professionals to contribute, as well. To make a contribution, visit the “Advocacy & Legislation” section of www.tireindustry.org or call 800-876-8372.

“The TIA board has clearly shown that TirePAC matters. Now, it’s time for the rest of the tire industry to step up and do their part. A donation as small as $25 can make a huge difference in making sure that the tire industry has the representation and protection it needs and deserves,” said TIA Government Affairs Committee Chair Randy Groh.

If you could boil this year's Continental Tire GOLD member meeting into one takeaway, it's that the tire manufacturer is putting a whole lot of effort into listening and responding to its dealer base. Continental doesn't own company stores, so building a strong value proposition around the company's brands and products with its distributors and retailers is the most effective path to success. To maximize the mutual benefits of this partnership, Continental leadership says acting on the will of its dealer base – whether that's about product, programs, distribution, or anything else – is paramount.
