According to a new survey by Hankook Tire America Corp., 61% of drivers “would be interested in buying eco-friendly tires,” primarily for fuel economy reasons.
And the study said 47% of Americans “would consider buying a hybrid or electric car,” with 56% of men and 38% of women claiming they’d be interested in such a vehicle.
Still, such vehicles are considered “expensive,” and price was the top reason consumers avoid hybrids and electric vehicles; 55% said the cars are too expensive and 23% said they are not very cost efficient.
According to the Hankook study, Americans are proving themselves to be continually tire-savvy. Consistent with the findings from Hankook’s Winter Gauge Index in December 2011, 70% of those polled have checked their tire pressure in the past month, 63% have checked for proper tread, and 63% have looked for tire damage (bruises, cuts, bulges, cracks).
The recent Hankook Tire Gauge Index was conducted March 7-8, and polled 1,016 randomly selected drivers.
