Former DeSalvo Tire and Auto owner and longtime BFGoodrich district manager Joseph DeSalvo has died. He was 87.
DeSalvo was born in Jacksonville, Fla., in 1928 and went to work for BFGoodrich in 1950. During his time with BFGoodrich, he moved all over the south from Savannah, Ga., to Mobile, Ala., to manage stores.
He eventually bought property in Jacksonville and built his own store, DeSalvo Tire and Auto.
When DeSalvo retired in 1990, he sold the business to his daughter and son-in-law.
DeSalvo loved animals and donated regularly to the Jacksonville Humane Society.
DeSalvo is survived by his wife of 66 years, four daughters, 11 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
