An unidentified man and woman stole three tires at a Turlock, Calif., tire shop and injured the store owner on Tuesday, according to local media.
The robbery reportedly occurred at 2:49 p.m. at Curtesy Gas, but began earlier the day before, according to Turlock Police.
On Monday the couple came to the store and asked for two tires that they could pay for with credit. Even though the store doesn’t offer credit, the owner agreed to give them the tires as long as they returned the next day to pay in cash. When the couple returned the next day, they asked for a third tire and drove away with the tire in their trunk before paying for any tires.
Police said the store owner attempted to stop the vehicle by grabbing the open door as the car drove away and was struck repeatedly by the women, causing him to fall.
The store owner suffered non life-threatening injuries and the robbery is currently under investigation.
