The Times of India reports that a contract worker died of stomach injuries on July 1 after an accident that occurred inside Michelin’s Thervoy Kandigai plant on June 25. The plant is located approximately 30 miles north of Chennai, India.
“We deeply regret the demise of a M+W’s sub-contractor worker,” said Michelin in a statement. “All necessary support is being provided by the sub-contractor company to the immediate family of the deceased and the company is co-operating with the relevant authorities. Michelin is in close contact with the subcontract company and constantly monitoring to ensure the best assistance is being meted out to the deceased worker’s family.”
India’s labor commissioner has ordered an investigation into the accident, said the Times of India.
