Continental AG announced it will invest $12.9 million in a new Technical and Research Center to be built in the Salto Industrial Park, Brazil.
The technical center is slated for completion in mid-2012 and will add 50 new jobs. The facility will expand Continental’s capabilities for testing emission, homologation and calibration on gasoline and diesel engines, the company said.
“We already have support agreements signed with vehicle manufacturers which will come into force in the second half of 2012,” said Maurício Muramoto, head of the Continental Group in Brazil.
The new facility will provide all the main technology and resources of the powertrain portfolio, making the German company a complete local option for the full supply of engine management systems.
