Continental Tire North America said its new ExtremeWinterContact is engineered with an advanced tread compound and structured siping to dramatically improve ice and snow traction. The tire also delivers noticeable improvements in wet performance, excellent fuel efficiency, extended tread life, greater ride quality and an extreme new level of traction. Conti said the new tire also features elevated lateral grooves which result in a stiffer pattern for improved day handling; and inclined longitudinal grooves for greater driving force for excellent traction and braking on snow. Multiple gripping edges give excellent traction and braking on snow, and a high-tech flexible tread compound, combined with high sipe density, work together to deliver reduced braking distance even on ice. The new tire will available for the 2009/2010 winter season in 52 sizes from 13- to 17-inch wheel diameters, Conti said.
