Conti Gets Extreme With Latest Winter Launch

Earlier this week, Continental Tire North America invited select media and dealers to the launch of its latest winter tire offering, the ExtremeWinterContact, designed to deliver serious performance in winter weather conditions.

Held in Big Sky, Mont., the event featured a ride-and-drive that pitted the ExtremeWinterContact against all-season tires, emphasizing the importance of fitting vehicles with winter tires in ice, snow and temperatures below 45 degrees.

The new tire, part of a new family of performance tires dedicated to North America that includes the ExtremeContact DW and the ExtremeContact DWS, is engineered with an advanced tread compound and structured siping to dramatically improve ice and snow traction. The tire also delivers noticeable improvements in wet performance, excellent fuel efficiency, extended wear and ride comfort, as well as considerable improvements in dry performance, CTNA said.

CTNA’s ExtremeWinterContact launch event, held in Big Sky, Mont., featured driving exercises such as pendulum turning, slalom courses and lane changing exercises in extreme winter conditions.

The ExtremeWinterContact will be available for the 2009/2010 winter season with a 52-size lineup incuding 13- to 17-inch wheel diameters. For the first time ever, Conti will include light truck sizes in a winter tire line.

Continental is also the tire with a 30-day customer satisfaction ride guarantee, a manufacturer’s workmanship limited warranty for 72 months – with free replacement up to 12 months, and road hazard coverage for 12 months, according to the company. (Tire Review/Akron)
