Thomas Land joined Carroll Tire just over two and a half years ago as an accountant.
After discovering he excelled in management and sales, Land approached his manager to see if he could train to become a branch manger and move up within Carroll Tire. Land soon was given the opportunity to become the distribution center supervisor, and after one year he achieved his current position of assistant branch manager.
“What I like most about the tire industry would definitely be the interaction between our customers and the fast pace of meeting each of their needs,” Land says. “As assistant manager, I am restricted on the amount of time I actually get in the field for face-to-face interaction, but the fast pace in the industry allows me to talk to hundreds of customers a week over the phone.”
Land wants to learn as much as he can about the industry, prompting him to do his own research outside of his typical daily duties.
“I enjoy reading and learning about any new tire advancements and how they are being introduced to the marketplace,” he shares. “I have also been able to participate in tire conventions and test drives to have a better understanding of our products.”
Land also tries to detect how tariffs and exchange rates will affect the industry and their customers.
Land goes to work with the motto, “Never give up.” He believes with any aspect of life that mental barriers must be overcome first and then anything is possible.
