Bridgestone Corp. has reached an agreement that will avoid the closure of its Italian plant.
The Italian government has urged Bridgestone for months to not close the passenger tire plant at Modugno. The plant employs roughly 950 individuals.
Under the deal, signed with the unions and local authorities, Bridgestone will only transfer some of the production to a site in Asia, Reuters reported. Additionally, roughly 377 workers will leave under voluntary redundancy agreements.
