A new partnership with Bridgestone Americas is bringing a Nashville high school’s automotive program a Firestone Complete Auto Care center to be run by students, reports the Tennessean.
Maplewood High School has had an automotive program for years, but the partnership will bring students the opportunity to gain more advanced training and certification, the school’s automotive instructor said.
A portion of the school’s automotive center will be made into the Firestone location, where students will speak with customers and do services like oil changes, brake replacements and tire rotations. Firestone’s company software program, a customer waiting area and equipment to service vehicles will also be in the center.
All the money earned from the service center will go back into the school’s automotive program.
With the experience gained from working at the new center, 150 students in the automotive program will graduate as licensed technicians by gaining the two years of experience required.
