Bridgestone Americas has announced the winners of this year’s Teen Drive Smart Video Contest.
Austin Piedra of Chicopee, Mass., took home first place, a $20,000 college scholarship, for his video – “Break Bad Habits.” In second, winning a $10,000 scholarship was “The Risk You Choose,” by University of Pennsylvania freshman Barry Oshiba. David Ramirez a freshman at the University of Central Florida took home third place, a $5,000 scholarship, for his video “Great Things Ahead.” Colby Cook of Orem, Utah, was awarded Critics’ Choice for “Words Unspoken” and will receive a $2,500 cash prize.
In addition to receiving scholarship money and a set of Bridgestone or Firestone tires, each winner has the opportunity for his or her video to appear as a public service announcement across the U.S.
This year’s ton ten finalist were chosen based on how well they encouraged teens and young adults to be more safety-conscious and how creatively the message was communicated, Bridgestone said. Online voting helped determine the top videos.
