Bridgestone Names Arakawa as New President

(Akron/Tire Review) Bridgestone Corp. reportedly has selected Shoshi Arakawa, 61, currently executive president and former head of its European operations, as the tire giant’s new president and CEO. His appointment takes effect after a shareholders’ meeting Mar. 30.

Arakawa replaces Shigeo Watanabe, who retried a year earlier than expected. Watanabe remains on the company’s board of directors as adviser.

Arakawa was chosen, said reports, because of his broad international experience, including posts in Europe and Thailand.
