Mark Emkes, chairman and CEO of Bridgestone Americas Holding Inc., and South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford attended the ceremony.
BFNAT will add a fourth rubber mixer to the facility as well as modify five existing tire-building machines to produce large wheel diameter tires. Total investment in the plant now stands at roughly $477 million, according to BFNAT.
The Aiken County facility produces passenger and light truck tires and has 923 employees. It began operations in 1999.
