Michelin North America’s BFGoodrich plant celebrates 70 years of manufacturing in Tuscaloosa, Ala. The plant manufactured its first tire on Oct. 23, 1946, and has since produced nearly 490 million tires.
“Our BFGoodrich facility in Tuscaloosa has been on the leading edge of tire innovation and performance for decades,” said Scott Clark, chief operating officer for Michelin North America. “We’re proud to celebrate the dedication of the employees in Tuscaloosa who are responsible for producing some of the most iconic tires ever made for racing, recreation and passenger vehicles.”
The plant occupies more than 1.6 million square feet and employs approximately 1,400 people.
To celebrate 70 years of producing tires in Alabama, Michelin is offering consumers
in West Alabama a special promotion. Throughout October, a purchase of a full set of BFGoodrich Tires (4) through independent local dealers within 50 miles of the Tuscaloosa site will qualify the buyer for a $50 Mastercard gift card.
