Belarus-based tiremaker Belshina JSC is aiming to produce 63-inch tires for mining vehicles by the end of 2016, Tyres & Accessories reported.
Belshina is currently modernizing its Babruysk plant and the company expects to start training at a location within Europe in the coming months, T&A said.
Belshina’s 63-inch mining tires will be supplied to Belarus manufacturer BelAZ for original equipment fitment on its new 450 ton dump truck. Additionally, the tires will be suitable for well-known brands such as Komatsu and Caterpillar, Belshina said.
Total investment in the Belshina OTR project is expected to exceed $400 million, T& A said.
In 2012, Belshina announced it planned to produce 57- and 63-inch OTR tires.
