Allen Park, Mich., headquartered Belle Tire has made several changes in its executive leadership team. The tire dealership hired Jack Lawless as the company’s new CEO. Additionally, Don Barnes III was promoted to company president.

Lawless and Barnes III will preside over all of Belle Tire, the dealership said.

Previously, Lawless was the president and CEO Champion Enterprises.

He replaces Dr. Steven Craig, who led Belle Tire the past two years.

Barnes is the third generation of the family-owned Belle Tire. He started with the company more than 10 years ago. In his new role he will continue to oversee the day-to-day operations of Belle’s locations.

In addition to Lawless and Barnes III, there are four additional changes in Belle’ leadership team.

Wayne Shotwell was recently promoted to chief operating officer for Belle. He’s been with the company since 2006 and most recently served as vice president of logistics and asset management. Shotwell has led the Belle’s in-store remodeling overhaul and played a major role in the logistical aspects of the Indiana expansion, the dealership said.

Mike Schulmeister was hired as chief financial officer this past spring. He joined Belle Tire after several years with Dawn Food Products.

Jim Peterson and Tom Bowman complete the executive team re-haul. Peterson will serve as vice president of human resources and Bowman will serve as vice president of Belle’s commercial division.

Belle Tire owns more than 90 locations across Michigan, Ohio and Indiana.

If you could boil this year's Continental Tire GOLD member meeting into one takeaway, it's that the tire manufacturer is putting a whole lot of effort into listening and responding to its dealer base. Continental doesn't own company stores, so building a strong value proposition around the company's brands and products with its distributors and retailers is the most effective path to success. To maximize the mutual benefits of this partnership, Continental leadership says acting on the will of its dealer base – whether that's about product, programs, distribution, or anything else – is paramount.
