Bandag and Customers Raise Funds for Charity

(Akron/Tire Review) Bandag Inc. customers and trucking industry executives raised $5,180 for the Trucker Buddy International program during a recent event held in conjunction with Bandag fleet and dealer meetings.

Golf outings held during Bandag’s Fleet Executive Symposium and Strategic Alliance Business Conference, both staged in Phoenix earlier this month, raised money for the charity, with Bandag matching many of the donations.

Trucker Buddy International is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping educate and mentor school children via a pen pal relationship between professional truck drivers and children in grades 2-8.

This is the third consecutive year that Bandag has made contributions to Trucker Buddy via the golf outings.

With vehicles of the future being evermore developed with the promise of autonomy and digital connectivity, manufacturers of the tires that carry those vehicles are also expected to upgrade their level of intelligence and electronics.

But it’s not always about the gizmos and gadgets we’re adding to those tires. What you might call the meat and potatoes of tires – their chemical and physical makeup – will also likely evolve via new materials and compositions.
