Auto Repair Store Fire Claims Life

An early morning fire at an automotive repair shop in Waldoboro, Maine, took the life of one unidentified person on Friday, April 24, according to media reports.

The owner of the repair store, Jeff Pinkham, is missing, according to media reports. His truck was parked inside one of the building’s garage bays and was damaged in the fire.

A body was found in the basement of the building after the fire was put out. Firefighters believe that the fire started in the basement, per media reports.

The body, which was burned beyond recognition, was taken to the state medical examiner’s office in Augusta, Maine, for autopsy and identification, according to Waldoboro Fire Chief Paul Smeltzer, who confirmed the news to Lincoln County News.

Firefighters were called to the repair shop, Pinkham’s Auto Repair, at 5 a.m. Friday, where they worked to contain a fire. The blaze damaged the building, which spread up the side of the building into the office and up into the roof, according to local reports.
