Dealer Profile: Brad McKissick, Hometown Tire & Automotive Tire Pros

There’s a common misconception that being the “boss’ kid” means you get a free pass. Brad McKissick knows this isn’t the case. “It’s sometimes hard, working for your dad, but it pays off,” he says. Growing up in the business, McKissick jokes that he was fired several times early in his career.

Club 3633 Profile: Jason Grasse

At 32, Jason Grasse has already spent half of his lifetime in the tire industry. As service manager at Matthews Tire in Fond du Lac, Wisc., his typical workday consists of quoting and selling services, assigning jobs and controlling the tech workload. Occasionally he will help out the sales counter, inventory management and with part ordering when needed.

Like many, Bo Ray grew up in the tire industry. Working for his father, Ray worked on cars, changed tires, and drove a tow truck. It was this foundation that allowed Ray to branch out and take an opportunity at a non-competitor shop across town.

Maine has just eight ASE Certified World Class Technicians and Kenny Bridges is one of them. Bridges has been working as a technician since 2002. In 2011, he joined VIP Tires & Service where he now works as service manger.

Casey Wall isn’t your typical “tire guy.” In fact, Wall would describe himself as a marketer first, then a tire guy second. Wall first started in the tire industry in 2004 while working for a marketing agency.

Brian Finkelstein is carrying on his family’s legacy as a fourth generation member of the family business, Max Finkelstein Inc. “Being a 98-year-old family business of four generations came from great decision-making, listening and being strategic in every aspect of the way we run our business, every day.”

Wes Tatum grew up in the tire industry, but never felt pressured to join the family business. “I actually went to college with the intent to become an engineer. Admittedly, there are some days I question that decision to change career paths,” he says.

Kim Taylor and husband, Andrew Taylor, are entrepreneurs at heart. With no real automotive service experience, together the pair purchased Titan Auto & Tire in 2004. The business has since grown in size to two locations, with a third location being explored.

Josh Chalofsky took a break from the family tire business with a stint in television, running operations for both the Discovery Channel and NFL, before making his return to the tire industry.

Gary Eavers initially opted out of the family business, instead choosing a career as internal auditor. It wasn’t until three years ago that he joined his family’s business. Today, he’s director of operations the nearly 60 year-old company.

Robby Cutchins was always interested in working in the automotive industry. “My father started in the automotive business in 1982 in a small two-bay service station and eventually got in to the tire business in the late 1980s. Being around the business for all of the years growing up gave me the interest to pursue a career in the field as I got older,” Cutchins says.

James Crouch is a self-proclaimed farm boy. Agriculture is his passion, and he always knew he wanted to do something related to that industry. A friend shared a job selling ag tires that led him to his first gig in the tire industry at Michelin North America nearly seven years ago.
