The new mid-engine Audi flagship is the company’s first serious competitor for the likes of the Porsche 911, and therefore, Pirelli is pleased to be chosen as the company that, so to speak, will make the rubber hit the road.
“Being chosen to supply original equipment for a technological masterpiece such as the Audi R8 represents an honour and a commitment for Pirelli,” explains Maurizio Boiocchi, head of Pirelli Tyre SpA Research and Development. “The Pirelli P Zeros bring together the best of Pirelli research. With this supply we have reinforced our partnership with Audi, which has already adopted Pirelli tyres on other important models in its range.”
Pirelli’s new P Zero tyre is scheduled to be unveiled in Dubai on Feb. 11, and the Italian tyremaker is confident that its performance, safety and high technology will make it a natural partner for Audi’s new supercar. The P Zero will be supplied for the R8 in sizes 235/35ZR19 for the front and 295/30ZR19 for the rear axles.
