Atturo has launched the Trail Blade M/T, a new light truck/SUV radial co-designed with Mantis Knife Co.

Produced in Thailand, the Trail Blade M/T will initially be available in sizes 33×12.5R17, 35×12.5R17, 33×12.5R17, 35×12.5R18, 33×12.5R20 and 35×12.5R20. Atturo said more sizes will be added over the first half of 2013.

Atturo said the tire tread design “was based on the very unique and aggressive blade designs of Mantis.” According to Michael Mathis of Atturo, “I came across the Mantis BK-1 knife almost by accident and had never seen anything like it before. It was at the same time we were working on our new tread pattern for the mud terrain. The fit between a knife blade and off road tire seemed like a natural pairing.”

The Trail Blade M/T features 8- to 10-ply construction (depending on the size) with extra deep tread for traction and durability. The center tread blocks feature a beveled edge for both grip and noise pitch reduction, and the contoured center channel aids in wet traction. Between the shoulder treads, there are arched and segmented channels to help eject stones and clear mud from the tread. The pattern extends to the sidewall with staggered shoulder blocks for lateral grip in loose surfaces such as dirt, sand and snow.
