The new tire was unveiled last week at Goodyear’s North American dealer meeting in Dallas.
Available in March, the Assurance joined the Assurance ComforTred and Assurance TripleTred, and will initially be offered in 27 different 15- to 17-inch sizes, covering some 80% of its target market.
"Our target consumer is the middle-class ‘everyday driver’ who values a dependable tire, at an affordable price," said Joey Viselli, Goodyear brand director. "These consumers do not want to have to worry about their tires. They want to rely on their tires to get them where they need to go, in rain or shine."
The Assurance features a “wet tread zone” in the center portion of the tire, and a “dry tread zone” on the outer areas. Shoulder blocks and the tread variation “help deliver enhanced traction and responsive handling in both wet and dry weather conditions,” Goodyear said.
The new Assurance has a UTQG of 620AB (T-rated sizes) and 580AA (H-rated sizes). Assurance will carry a 65,000-mile limited warranty. (Tire Review/Akron)
