Apollo Tyres to Enter Indian Truck, Bus Radial Tire Business

Neeraj R S Kanwar, chief operating officer at Apollo Tyres, said the first truck and bus radial tires will be launched in the Indian market a year from now.

“We already have the best radial products in passenger car, farm and light truck,” said Kanwar. “The only segment remaining is the heavier commercial vehicles. In a year’s time, this gap in our arsenal will be filled to ensure our truck and bus customers who wish to switch to radial tyres can depend on us for this product also.

“Even though the market segment is still very small, we feel Apollo needs to be present in this segment to retain its leadership position across all categories,” he added.

The Limda plant currently produces Apollo Acelere H-rated passenger tires as well as truck bias, light truck and agricultural radial and bias tires.

The Ohio Tire and Automotive Association (OTAA) held its annual golf outing this year at The Country Club at Muirfield Village, close to the renowned Muirfield Village Golf Club, home of the PGA Tour's Memorial Tournament.

OTAA leadership welcomed around 116 OTAA members and thanked sponsors before teeing off and, following golf, attendees gathered for dinner, drinks and donations. OTAA leadership, including new President Jon Boyd, tire business manager, from Boyd’s Tire and Service, presented a $3,000 donation to the Automotive Aftermarket Charitable Foundation (AACF). OTAA also presented the William Floyd Distinguished Service Award to Tom White, owner of the six-store Tire Source chain based in Canton. White received the honor in recognition of his long-term dedication and contributions to the OTAA board and the broader Ohio tire industry.
