Amtel Buys Six More Stores

(Akron/Tire Review) Continuing its aggressive move into retail tire distribution, Amtel-Vredestein NV acquired six multi-brand tire sales and service centers from Vils Group. The locations are in the Perm region of Russia, about 1,000 miles east of Moscow.

Amtel-Vredestein’s other stores are in the greater Moscow area. The company, which plans to own some 300 retail locations in total, has acquired 41 stores since August 2005.

“We are executing a bold strategy to rapidly enlarge our retail footprint across Russia,” said Alexei Gurin, Amtel-Vredestein’s CEO. “We believe that a substantial proprietary network will allow us to grow margins in our core tire business and improve the overall customer experience.”
