Farm Industry News has named 20 recipients of its 2015 FinOvation Award. Among those companies chosen for the award were Titan Tire Corp.’s Goodyear Farm Tires brand, Trelleborg Wheel Systems Americas and PTG of Germany.
The award is presented to those products and companies that received the most interest from the publication’s readers throughout 2014.
The Goodyear Farm Tires brand received the award for its Extreme Flotation and Low Sidewall (LSW) technology tire lines. According to the farm industry publication, the tire line is designed to offer tractors a tighter turning radius, a smoother ride, reduced soil compaction and better flotation.
“The fact that the public has shown such significant interest in both Extreme Flotation and Low Sidewall technologies – both of which are unique to Goodyear – shows that more than a decade of research, development and testing by Titan to bring these new technologies to market is justified,” said Scott Sloan, agricultural product manager for Titan Tire and Goodyear Farm Tires. “Now is the time to challenge conventional thinking about farm tire design, and the award shows that farmers agree.”
Trelleborg Wheel Systems Americas also received the award for its Progressive Traction tread design. The publication noted that the new tread design, which was introduced at Agritechnica this year, has a two-step tread that widens the tire footprint as it moves through soil for added traction.
Farm Industry News also recognized PTG of Germany’s automatic inflation system. The magazine noted that the system allows users to drop tire pressures for lower compaction and better performance during fieldwork, and raise it again for road transport. Precision Inflation LLC sells the product on behalf of PTG of Germany in the U.S.
Farm Industry News noted that the public can vote for which product of the 20 award recipients should win the Product of the Year Award. The poll is now open and the winner will be announced at the National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville, Ky., on Feb. 12.
