Fred White, owner/operator of Sewell, N.J.-based Miles Auto Service, was awarded a $50,000 shop makeover as part of the Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance “Garage Overhaul” Promotion.
White is the first of two winners in the Alliance’s spring sweepstakes. The sweepstakes provides funds for exterior and interior cosmetic improvements, as well as a portion of funds for technology and equipment.
White said he will use the money to give his exterior a facelift to help differentiate it from other buildings by replacing the sign face on the stand-alone lighted sign out front and adding an illuminated sign to the front of the building. On the interior, he wants to refresh the waiting room area by removing a wall to create a larger customer service area. Additionally, the floors would be redone, walls will be painted, a new service counter will replace the current desk, and furniture will be added to the waiting area. He plans to use the refurbished area for evening technical and team training programs.
In the five-bay service area, White plans to add a fifth lift.
“Simply put, this opportunity will allow us to further improve the customer experience,” White said. “My goal is to create a loyal client rather than a transactional customer.”
