Due to on-going media claims that recycled rubber of scrap tires pose harmful risks to people and the environment, the Tire Industry Association and its Environmental Advisory Council chose to investigate allegations. Following extensive studies, the association is in support of continued use of crumb rubber in turfs.
“Each of these studies validated the position that crumb rubber poses no significant health or environmental risk. For this reason, the EAC and TIA support the continued use of crumb rubber in synthetic turf, athletic fields and playgrounds as well as other product applications,” the association said.
