Fairfax, Va.-based Virginia Tire & Auto was presented with the Community Champion Award from Shelter House Inc., a local non-profit organization serving homeless families and victims of domestic violence.
The 2011 winner of the Tire Review Top Shop Award was recognized for its Wheels for Work program, which performs automotive repair services pro bono to low income families in need of transportation to get to and from their jobs.
“Virginia Tire & Auto is truly honored to receive the Shelter House Community Champion Award,” said Julie Holmes, vice president of Virginia Tire & Auto. “Not having a dependable vehicle is a barrier some people face in finding and keeping a job. Our Wheels for Work program allows us to help working families in Northern Virginia have reliable transportation so that they can bridge the barrier between home and work. This program is an opportunity for us to give back to the community by providing what we do best, offering excellent car care service.”
