Titan International Inc. has released the new Contractor Radial implement tire.
“The vast majority of implement tires on the market are bias, but there are a lot of benefits to using radials on an implement,” says Scott Sloan, agricultural product manager for Titan and Goodyear Farm Tires. “Implements have gotten heavier over the years and are outgrowing the load capacity of standard bias sizes that run at significantly higher inflations. In addition, farmers are traveling longer distances from field to field with increased loads. So, they’re looking for a tire that can provide better roading and increased carrying capacity at reduced pressures, which is exactly what the Contractor radial tire offers.”
The tire features a Very High Flexion (VF) design that allows growers to carry the same weight load as a standard implement tire at 40% lower inflation pressures, reducing soil compaction, Titan said. Additionally, the tire’s radial construction allows for cooler running temperatures that can extend the life of the tire, the tiremaker adds.
The Contractor Radial also features the same zigzag, ribbed tread design as the Goodyear FS24 implement tire for smooth road use and stability in side-slope applications.
The tire is available now in two sizes, VF280/70R15 and VF320/70R15, with three additional sizes in development.
