When Tire Discounters customers Erin and Chris Hosking out of Louisville, Kentucky decided to donate their car to a family in need, Tire Discounters jumped in to support them.
The Hoskings donated a car to Louisville residents Catherine Carey and her 13-year-old daughter, Haylie, who is awaiting a liver transplant. For the past few months, the Carey family has been making trips to Cincinnati, so that Haylie can receive liver treatment. On a recent trip home, the family’s car caught fire, leaving them without a way to get Haylie to treatment.
“When I saw her story it really hit home with me,” said Tire Discounters customer Erin Hosking. “My father went through a liver transplant ten years ago and is on the list again for a kidney and liver. We also have a daughter who is chronically ill that we take to Cincinnati, so we know the route well and I couldn’t imagine not having what I needed to get her the care that she needs.”
Last Friday, the Hoskings met the Careys at the Tire Discounters on Von Allen Road in Louisville to officially hand over the keys.
“We really have the best customers and are honored to be a part of this,” said Denny Patterson, Tire Discounters regional manager. “We wanted to do something extra to help out, so Tire Discounters donated gas gift cards, an alignment, a year’s worth of oil changes and completed a full safety inspection.”
Charles Curlee, Tire Discounters’ vice president of retail sales, said he was blown away by the Hosking’s generosity.
“The Hosking family may have donated a car, but they gave the Carey family so much more than a car,” he said. “Catherine no longer has to worry about how she’ll get Haylie to Cincinnati for treatment.”
