The Tire Industry Association, partnering with Federated Insurance, is hosting a webinar entitled "How to Establish a Drug- and Alcohol-free Workplace" on Sept. 26.
Substance abusers are 10 times more likely to miss work and 33% less productive than those who don’t abuse, according to the American Council for Drug Education. Additionally, substance abusers are also 3.6 times more likely to hurt themselves in on-the-job accidents and five times more likely to file workers compensation claims.
With 72% of drug users employed, users in the workplace can cost employers time and money.
"These statistics are frightening and should be a concern to everyone in the tire industry. I encourage our members who have not implemented a drug- and alcohol-free workplace program to attend this webinar to learn how Federated can help them do so," said Roy Littlefield, TIA executive vice president. "In addition to cutting expenses and reducing liability, a drug- and alcohol-free workplace program shows employees that their safety and well-being are important."
Presented by Craig Dolan, ARM, CPCU, of Federated Insurance, the webinar will offer the steps and resources available to help companies implement an effective program.
Dolan is currently the learning and development trainer for Federated Insurance’s Learning Center. Previously he worked as a field claims service representative, a commercial service rep, and a marketing rep for the company. Prior to his career at Federated, Dolan was a risk manager at a trucking operation, an operations manager in the trucking industry and an independent insurance adjuster.
The webinar is free and open to all TIA members and prospective members, and runs from 1:00 p.m. – 1:45 p.m. (Central time). Pre-registration is requested online at http://bit.ly/139k45o.
