Dealers looking to assemble business support have their pick of tire manufacturer and dealer marketing groups. Here’s a rundown of the marketing programs that can provide dealerships superhero support.

ATD

Name of dealer program: ATDServiceBay

What the program offers: The ATDServiceBay program is grouped into “Bays,” similar to the way a tire dealer may have a dedicated tire bay, alignment bay, etc.  Below are the different bays in ATDServiceBay:

What the program offers: Road hazard warranty; 12-month, 12,000-mile service warranty; credit card; parts discount programs; oil discount programs; and equipment discounts.

Brands offered: Bridgestone, Firestone, Dayton, Mastercraft, General , Continental, Falcon and Goodyear.

Where is the program offered: Eastern half of the U.S.

Fees: Franchisees must pay a royalty fee of between 4-5% of gross sales and contribute 4.45% of gross sales to Big O’s national and local advertising funds. Big O also matches spending on opening advertising made during the first three months (up to $15,000) for new franchisees. Big O is currently offering a discounted royalty rate of 2.5% during the first year of business for new franchisees, and 1.5% and 3% in the first and second years, respectively, of business for new franchisees who convert their independent automotive service stores to Big O.

Falken Tire Corp.

What the program offers: A loyalty program that rewards dealers for buying Falken Tires from one primary distributor. That loyalty is what helps the dealer build a consistent relationship with their distributor by getting regular assistance. Dealers are also added to a dealer locator on Falken’s website and have access to PEAK Training (falkenpeaktraining.com), warranties and credit cards. A rewards program allows dealers to transfer points into marketing material, gift cards, air mileage and tires. Four levels of volume discounts and exponential dollar payouts for specific product sales are also available.

Tires included in the program: Passenger, light truck and seasonal tires.

Where is the program offered: United States and Canada.

How to sign up: Dealers can either enroll online or if they are already working with a distributor who is a Fanatic distributor, then their outside account manager will be able to sign them up for the program. All dealers have to work through an established Falken Fanatic distributor. What the program offers: Network leverages the power of the Goodyear brand to drive fleets to member dealers’ locations. Kenda

Name of dealer program: Kenda Traction

Minimum purchase volume: When you purchase 125 or more tires quarterly, you are eligible to earn rewards. The program is tiered, so the more tires you purchase, the higher your payouts. Purchases of 125-249 tires qualify for Tier 1. Purchases of 250-399 tires qualify for Tier 2 and 400 tires or more qualify for Tier 3 and the highest payouts. Once you’ve reached the threshold of 125 units in a quarter, you will receive payouts of Black Card Rewards and co-op dollars that correspond to the tier you’ve reached. Also offers an annual catch-up provision so that dealers are not penalized for seasonality.

Michelin North America

Name of dealer program: Alliance Associate Dealer Program

Website: Contact local MAST area manager or contact an authorized Michelin Alliance distributor.

What the program offers: Business development funds that can be used for advertising, dealer promotion and other improvements; online and local dealer training at Sales Training Center in Greenville, S.C; high performance and light truck tires training; and Michelin Dealer Connect website site to help manage marketing funds, create ads and mailers, view credits, submit claims online and access all the resources necessary for promotions and advertising, including Internet.

Brands offered: Michelin, BFGoodrich and Uniroyal passenger tires available to direct independent dealers.

Tires included in the program: Passenger and light truck tires, but also able to receive credit for purchases of specific truck tires. Michelin’s MATT division in process of launching a program for truck tire dealers. Michelin’s AG group also offers a program for associate dealers, modeled after the P/LT AAD program.

Where is the program offered: All 50 U.S. states.

How to sign up: Interested dealers should contact the local MAST area manager or may contact an authorized Michelin Alliance distributor.

Minimum purchase volume: 400 Michelin and BFGoodrich (combined) passenger and light truck units per retail point-of-sale during the calendar year. For dealers unable to immediately commit to the 400 unit level, Michelin also offers the “Open Market Associate” dealer program to introduce dealers to the online eStatements and cash rebates (other conditions and limitations do apply). Dealers joining the program mid-year receive pro-rated goals. Four other other “BIB Levels” with increasing benefits and rewards, based on unit volume.

Driven dealers are also listed on the toyotires.com website. Three tiers: All Season Performance, High Performance and Ultra-High Performance. Dealers that achieve Ultra-High Performance level within four consecutive quarters in a calendar year are eligible for the Toyo Tires signage program.

Brands offered: Only Toyo branded tires are included in the program.

Tires included in the program: All Toyo product purchases count toward the three tiers, but only passenger and light truck offer payouts.

How to sign up: Contact local Toyo wholesaler or Toyo regional sales manager. The enrollment process includes an online application and a minimum purchase once the application is approved. Once enrolled, the Driven dealer can track their purchases and payouts through the Driven website.

Minimum purchase volume: 50 units to enroll, then 100 units per quarter to qualify for payouts.

Dealer incentive trips and/or merchandise: Yes. Ultra-High Performance level dealers with bonus awards of Toyo-branded merchandise. How to sign up: Fill out the associate dealer enrollment form with designated Advantage distributor, place a minimum unit opening order with that distributor, and the distributor submits the enrollment to Yokohama for approval.
