Tire dealers know as well as anyone the value of keeping tools in tip-top shape. For Scott Omta, owner of Arizona Tire Pros, that applies to his body as much as it does the tools in his shop.
Some workout warriors seek a challenge, like winning a big race, meeting a lifting goal or seeking to top a personal best. For Omta, working out is regular maintenance for his body, and that’s just smart business.
“I can have stamina to do what I want to do and get through my day and have a little energy for after as well. And I think you feel better too,” he said of his commitment to regular exercise. “I like to eat. [Exercise] is a good way to balance that out without limiting your diet.”
Omta has been exercising regularly for the last twenty years or so, and while he’s been consistent with his workouts, he’s cautious not to over-train and burn himself out.
“I’m definitely not a health nut,” Omta said of his routine. “I like to lift about an hour a day along with my runs, so I enjoy that. That relives a lot of stress.”
As a business owner, Omta recognizes his conduct at home and on the job reflect on himself and his shop.
“[Working out every day] sets a good example,” Omta said. “That shows dedication.”
That dedication promises to keep the “most important tool in the shop” running strong for the long-term.
