PSI: Tire Inflation Systems Reduce Inspection Time

RM-Class8semi-truckData collected from fleets indicate those with automatic tire inflation systems (ATIS) on their trailers reduce the time spent in Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) regulated roadside inspections, according to Pressure Systems International.

PSI reported that the time saved during these routine inspections – an average of 17 minutes – generates additional uptime and reduces costs for fleets utilizing ATIS on their equipment.

“CVSA inspectors realize that it is not necessary to check the tire inflation on trailers with automatic inflation systems because they always have the correct air pressure,” said Al Cohn, PSI’s director of new market development and engineering support. “They can utilize their time more efficiently looking at the tires for damage, wear or other issues because they know they won’t find any under-inflated tires if these systems are present.”

PSI markets and sells its products in North America through Meritor as the Meritor Tire Inflation System by PSI.
