Prometeon Tyre Group has affirmed its support for zero-emissions mobility by signing a supply agreement with the SmartBUS project
The project, developed by the Eco – Hev company, involves the installation of a fast-charging system using a charging station located at the end of the urban line where the project is being tested in La Spezia, Italy. The energy storage system is being tested on a bus circulating the city. It eliminates the need for batteries on board the vehicle and reduces charging times from 8 hours to 5 minutes, Prometeon says.
Under the agreement, Prometeon will supply Pirelli MC: 01 tires, the City Bus involved in the project, which meets the efficiency requirements of the SmartBUS system.
The tire’s characteristics aim to reduce rolling resistance and energy consumption while providing for a quiet ride through its specific design and tread compound.
The testing phase of the SmartBUS project is expected to be completed in November 2018.
