Two more Cooper-produced private brand tires have come under voluntary recall for potential tread chunking problems.
Some of Cooper Tire & Rubber Co.’s own Discoverer H/T and Discoverer LSX light truck/SUV radials, in size 245/70R17 and produced between Nov. 15 and Dec. 12, 2009, were recalled late last month.
Similar tires produced for TBC Corp. and Pep Boys have joined Terra Trac tires from Hercules Tire & Rubber Co., which were recalled last week.
TBC’s Cyclone Radial SUV and Pep Boys’ Definity Dakota H/T, both in size 245/70R17 and produced by Cooper between Nov. 15 and Dec. 19, 2009, are being recalled for the same tread chunking concerns.
Both companies said they will replace the recalled tires for free.
Cooper said all of the recalled tires were included among the tires for which it issued the original recall. Notifications of the voluntary recalls, though, have been issued by NHTSA for each affected brand.
