The new year will mean new paycheck amounts for workers in 17 states as minimum wage adjustments kick in as of Jan. 1.
According to the National Employment Law Project, some 647,000 workers in seven states will see their paychecks increase under adjustments tied to regional and national inflation rates.
Those increases will come in Arizona, Colorado, Montana, Ohio, Oregon, Vermont and Washington, and will increase hourly pay by between nine and 12 cents per hour.
Ten other states automatically adjust their minimum wage levels based on inflation.
Taking into account the increases scheduled for the beginning of the year, 17 states and the District of Columbia will boast minimum wages above the federal level of $7.25.
