Michelin Using Cloud to Help European Dealers

Groupe Michelin has launched a cloud-based content syndication platform in Europe for its “Pure Player” dealers, according to Tyres & Accessories.  The cloud will allow partner dealers to access, in real time, any official digital content provided by the tire manufacturer to automatically update their own sites.

Michelin notes that in 90% of cases, consumers visit the website of tire dealers rather than manufacturers and the tiremaker wants customers to be able to access consistent information updated in real time, T&A reported.

Michelin will make more than 2,000 photos videos, product datasheets and other graphics available in the cloud platform. The platform will start with just Michelin-related material followed by its other brands in the future.

Michelin is “going beyond traditional limits to offer European dealers an indispensable and original service in order to maintain our leading position and provide end-customers with reliable information in real time,” said Jérôme Charachon, passenger car and van marketing director for Europe.

The European cloud is supported by a U.S. company specialized in content sharing, according to T&A.

This cloud-based platform is currently unavailable in the U.S., but the tiremaker does utilize a Dealer Connect website to share assets.
