John Deere will equip ZTrak 900 Series line-up of zero-turn commercial mowers with Michelin North America’s X Tweel Turf as original equipment to replace a standard 24x12x12 tire. This is the first OE fitment of any kind for the Tweel.
“We have been working with the John Deere team for several years and the result is a partnership that has the potential to dramatically change the commercial mowing market,” said Ralph Dimenna, head of Michelin Tweel Technologies. “Our Michelin X Tweel Turf provides the benefits associated with pneumatic tires, but it won’t go flat.”
The X Tweel Turf will be available on the 54-, 60- and 72-inch deck sizes.
Additionally, Michelin announced the launch of two new versions of its Michelin X Tweel SSL airless tires: a 12N16.5 X Tweel SSL All Terrain for a wide range of surfaces and a 12N16.5 X Tweel SSL Hard Surface for pavement use.
The all-terrain Tweel, which is designed for more rugged off-road working conditions, will be a viable option for such industries as construction and landscaping, noted Michelin. The tiremaker added that the hard surface Tweel, which provides more longevity on pavement and asphalt, presents an option for very high-use operations.
